Ivan Toney Confirms Commitment to Brentford for Remainder of Season Ivan Toney has officially declared his intent to stay with Brentford for the rest of the season as he approaches his return to competitive action.
After an eight-month ban for gambling breaches, Toney is set to rejoin the Brentford first team following the FA Cup third-round replay against Wolves.
Despite speculation linking Toney to Arsenal and Chelsea, with both clubs considering him a potential January target, a move seemed unlikely due to Brentford’s high asking price of over £80m.
Toney’s commitment to the club was reinforced by both Brentford’s coach, Thomas Frank, and Toney himself expressing gratitude for the support during his time away.
In a phone call captured by Brentford media with former teammate Pontus Jansson, Toney unequivocally stated, “I’m staying, I’m staying.
I can’t wait to get back.”While talk of a January departure has diminished, Toney’s future beyond this season remains uncertain, especially with Brentford’s struggles in the Premier League.
Currently in 16th place, just three points clear of relegation, Brentford eagerly anticipates the return of the striker who scored 20 goals in 33 games last season.
Toney will enter the final 12 months of his Brentford contract at the season’s end, making his future a subject of interest next summer.
However, clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea are exploring alternative striker options, with Chelsea reportedly targeting Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who has a release clause exceeding £100m.
