Gary Neville has named the two Manchester United players who will not be sold this summer.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS will be calling the shots at the club now, and there have already been a lot of changes behind the scenes.
With the summer transfer window coming up, even more changes are expected, with reports claiming a number of Manchester United‘s current players could be shown the door.
Erik ten Hag was not happy with those claims and firmly denied them this week.
Now, Neville has had his say on the situation.
Gary Neville makes claim about Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Hojlund after Erik ten Hag’s comments
Manchester United have had a really underwhelming season.
The Red Devils are currently sixth in the Premier League table, having won just 16 of their 34 games. They will miss out on Champions League qualification and if they’re not careful, they could even drop out of the top six.
Irrespective of what happens, Manchester United are expected to be active in this summer’s transfer window, with respect to both incomings and outgoings.
However, reports that the majority of the squad is up for sale is not true at all, claimed Erik ten Hag in his press conference this week.
“It’s a joke! As long as I worked here, every summer, 200 players are getting an interest from Manchester United, which is untrue, he said, as per Sky Sports.
“We did some research. Every summer, we sell every player in our squad. Which is untrue. Be calm and take responsibility when you take such a headline. It is totally c–p.”
Gary Neville has now delivered his verdict, and he completely agrees with Ten Hag. The Manchester United legend further named two players he thinks will definitely not be sold.
Reacting to Ten Hag’s comments, Neville told Sky Sports: “He said ‘how can every player be for sale?’ He almost explained it. To be fair, you know it’s not true.
“Mainoo is not for sale, there’s no way that man can be for sale. Every player can’t be for sale, it’s impossible. There’s no way United can sell their best young players.
“Rasmus Hojlund is not going to be for sale. There’s more than two by the way.”
Five other players Manchester United should not sell
Gary Neville is right – there’s just no way Manchester United will sell either Kobbie Mainoo or Rasmus Hojlund this summer.
The 19-year-old England midfielder has been a revelation this season. He has arguably been Manchester United’s best player, and the team should be built around him.
Rasmus Hojlund had a difficult start to the season in the Premier League, but he has done well since breaking his duck on Boxing Day against Aston Villa.
The Dane is a player with huge potential, and he, like Mainoo, is the future of the club.
There are many players Manchester United should not think of selling this summer. Here are five of them:
Alejandro Garnacho: Like Mainoo and Hojlund, Garnacho is the future of Manchester United. The Argentine has had a very good season, and there’s no way he will be sold this summer.
Bruno Fernandes: The Portugal international can be really frustrating at times, but he still delivers the goods for Manchester United and should not be sold.
Lisandro Martinez: The Argentine had a great debut campaign at Old Trafford last season, but injuries have ruined this campaign. When Martinez is fit, he starts, so there’s no reason to sell him.
Andre Onana: This could be a bit controversial as Onana has made plenty of mistakes in goal this season. But, we think he’s still a great goalkeeper and should be given another season at least.
Mason Mount: A bit like Lisandro Martinez, Mount has had an injury-hit campaign. He hasn’t been able to show Manchester United fans what he’s all about, but everyone knows how talented he is. He deserves at least another year too.
