INEOS, under the direction of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s company, is currently overseeing all sporting matters for Manchester United until their Premier League approval is finalized in the next four to six weeks.

During this period, INEOS is closely monitoring decisions related to Erik ten Hag’s January transfer window, and they have reportedly made a decision regarding Mason Greenwood.

Greenwood, currently on loan at La Liga side Getafe CF for the season, was sent away from Manchester United after fan protests against his return.

The Sun reports that Getafe has expressed a desire to make Greenwood’s transfer permanent in January by offering £40 million to United. However, both United and presumably INEOS have rejected the proposal, preferring to maintain his loan status until the season concludes.

It seems that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, overseeing sporting matters during the interim period, is likely to assess Greenwood’s future once the season concludes.

The urgency to sell the 22-year-old arises from his contract with the club expiring in 2025. This summer, in 2024, represents the final window where the player retains any transfer value.

Mason Greenwood, currently on loan at Getafe, has shown promising performance with five goals and four assists in 15 games since his move in September.

However, Getafe has no intentions of reintegrating him into the squad once his loan deal concludes.
