Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on a manager who has been heavily linked with a switch to Chelsea.
Mauricio Pochettino parted ways with Chelsea last week as the Argentine headed out the door by mutual consent.
The decision came as a bit of a surprise considering the Blues’ strong finish to the Premier League season. Pochettino delivered a sixth-place finish after winning five of his last six games in charge at Chelsea.
It didn’t prove to be enough to secure Europa League football though as Manchester United’s FA Cup victory means Chelsea will be in the Conference League next term.
The Blues are wasting no time when it comes to hiring Pochettino’s successor and seem to have narrowed their search down to four names.
Indeed, the final shortlist reportedly includes former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna, Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca.
And it would appear that Maresca is waiting on a final decision from the Chelsea board.

Enzo Maresca waiting for Chelsea decision
Romano took to X on Sunday and shared an update on Maresca amid interest from Chelsea.
The Spaniard has already held walks with the Blues and is now waiting on a decision from the club.
The Leicester boss has already turned down an approach from Sevilla as he favours a move to the Premier League.
“Enzo Maresca favours Premier League over any other league despite approaches from Sevilla, already rejected,” Romano wrote.
“He’s waiting for Chelsea decision after talks in the recent days — release clause is around €10m after getting promoted. Leicester City also waiting for that.”

Maresca’s record compared to other Chelsea candidates
With four names in the running to replace Pochettino, you’d expect Chelsea to make a decision swiftly ahead of pre-season.
Maresca is clearly keen on a switch to Stamford Bridge after guiding Leicester to a Championship title.
After working under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, who lauded the Leicester boss as ‘incredible‘, Maresca has enjoyed an exceptional first full season in management.
He certainly lacks when it comes to experience when up against other candidates but did also enjoy a brief spell at Serie A outfit Parma back in 2021.
