Pep Guardiola has made a prediction about Tottenham Hotspur should they ‘stick with’ Ange Postecoglou.

The Manchester City boss picked up all three points at Spurs last night and took a huge step towards yet another Premier League title.

Despite an encouraging performance, Ange Postecoglou’s side were undone by two second-half goals from Erling Haaland.

It means Spurs will miss out on Champions League football next season and are likely to finish in a Europa League spot.

After such a promising start to life in north London where Postecoglou went unbeaten in his first 10 league games, Spurs have been a mixed bag since.

The Aussie has had to deal with injuries to key players at certain points in the season and after losing star man Harry Kane, a fifth-place finish has to go down as a decent debut season.

Now, after already praising six Tottenham stars following last night’s game, Pep Guardiola has predicted a bright future for Spurs under Postecoglou.

Guardiola makes Tottenham prediction

Speaking to the media after last night’s game, Guardiola admitted Spurs are a difficult side to play against.

The City boss also claimed that Tottenham will become an ‘unbelievable’ team should they stick by Postecoglou.

“They play with a lot of pride and intensity and it’s so difficult to play against them,” Guardiola said. “Spurs will in the future be unbelievable if they stick with the manager.”

Postecoglou’s post-match City comments

In what has been a strange couple of days for Spurs supporters, Postecoglou was far from impressed after last night’s defeat.

The Aussie claimed the foundations at Spurs are ‘fairly fragile’ and insisted he’d learnt a lot over the past 48 hours.

When pressed on what he meant by the comments and where they were aimed at, he said: “Outside, inside, everywhere. It’s been an interesting exercise.

“It’s just my observations mate. I’m not going to tell you, because it’s for me. I’m the one who’s got to do it.

“You can make your own assessments of what’s happened. I understand. I probably misread the situation as to what I think is important in your endeavour to become a winning team, but that’s ok. That’s why I’m here.” as quoted by Football.London.

While Postecoglou was evidently angry with the circumstances surrounding last night’s clash, he should be content with Tottenham’s display.

Spurs pushed City all the way and had decent opportunities to draw level before Haaland doubled his side’s lead from the penalty spot.
