Having been linked with a move to Arsenal recently, one player has now suggested that he would like to sign for the club.

By now, Mikel Arteta will have handed Edu Gaspar his summer wishlist, one tailored by Arsenal’s extensive transfer network.

Arsenal’s business last summer proved to be extremely successful, with all four of their major signings improving their first XI.

Kai Havertz and Declan Rice both enjoyed an excellent impact having signed from Premier League rivals – a move that can often be difficult.

David Raya also improved things, proving a much more consistent alternative to Aaron Ramsdale, even if he is a strong goalkeeper in his own right.

And then there was Jurrien Timber, a player who would have perhaps made the difference for Arsenal in their title-quest.

It’s a big claim, but one that could be proven true when Timber showcases his talent in the 2024/25 season.

And on the topic of successful Dutch signings, Arsenal have recently shown interest in Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bjilow.

Justin Bijlow says he’s ‘open’ to joining a club like Arsenal this summer

According to reports, Bijlow is envisioned as Ramsdale’s replacement – who looks set for a new challenge.

And having just met up with the Dutch national team ahead of the Euros, Bijlow has responded to the Arsenal links mentioned.

Speaking to Dutch outlet Voetbal Zone, Bijlow initially spoke about almost joining Manchester United before last season, when they instead chose to sign Andre Onana.

“That’s also football, isn’t it? You don’t know when something will or won’t happen. 

“They [United] made the choice for someone else at the time. But I am happy that I could play another season for Feyenoord.

“Would I stay at Feyenoord? You never know, do you? That’s football. You don’t know that. I’m ambitious, I’ve always said that.

“If the opportunity presents itself and a good club comes from abroad, I am open to it. I’ve always said that.

“As long as I am under contract with Feyenoord, that is never a punishment and I will give everything as long as I play there.”

Bijlow was then specially asked about recent links to both Liverpool and Arsenal.

He replied: “Those are two very nice clubs. Of course it is always nice to be mentioned at big clubs. What I’m just saying: I’m ambitious.

“As long as I play for Feyenoord I will give everything for that and first I just want to focus on the Dutch team.”

Arsenal could be in profit after replacing Ramsdale with Feyenoord’s Bijlow

Bijlow reportedly has a price tag of less than £21m this summer, which should make a deal very appealing for Arsenal.

The keeper was incredibly important for Arne Slot at Feyenoord, who has of course now joined Liverpool.

And given that Arsenal are said to be holding out for around £30m for Ramsdale this summer, amid interest from Newcastle United, the club could actually end up in profit.

Losing Ramsdale would always be a blow, a sad moment for fans who had grown to love his block-buster personality.

But the business mentioned would be sensible for Arteta’s team, who still have to be mindful of Profit and Sustainability Rules.

All that being said, a Championship side are now said to want to sign an Arsenal youngster on loan.
