Ian Wright hits out at what he is hearing about Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka has made a tremendous start to the new Premier League season for Arsenal.
But that shouldn’t be a surprise because it has become the norm for the Hale-End product to consistently produce for his team.
After seven Premier League matches, Arsenal are sitting third in the table, with Saka scoring two goals and supplying an impressive seven assists.
Only during Arsenal’s late win over Leicester City has the 23-year-old not scored or assisted for his team, which is rather impressive and proof of how important he is to Mikel Arteta.
But one recent topic or discussion around Saka has started to frustrate Ian Wright.
The legendary striker will defend Arsenal from the top of the hill and back, including backing the star players from within the squad.
This Arsenal side, the vast majority, are yet to win a trophy, but they are fully aware that they are closer than ever.
You sense if that happens, such as Arsenal becoming Premier League champions, then more respect will be put on individual names.
But, as of this moment, Wright finds it ‘so annoying’ that people are taking jibes at Saka for not being a ‘World-Class’ player.
Wright pointed out that those labels are for players like Zinedine Zidane and Kaka, players who have won the big trophies, such as the World Cup, as he told Premier League Productions (07/10/24 at 1:15 pm).

“That’s the problem, the way you said it there makes sense (you become world-class by winning trophies such as World Cups),” said Wright.
“When you watch the World Cup, that’s what you see. You see World-Class players. Zidane and Kaka, all those players. They won the World Cup.
“The way people are throwing this about like he’s not World-Class, he isn’t World-Class. It’s just a clickbait kind of conversation. It’s so annoying it is.”

Saka has gone from strength to strength in recent years and he is a player many teams across Europe would want in their team.
Arsenal only returned to the Champions League last season – it was Saka’s first venture into the big-time – yet he has fitted in with ease.

Even on the international stage, he does his job for his country, even if England had to deal with the defensive-minded Gareth Southgate for so many years.
The attacking talent on show for England is rather incredible, with Chelsea’s Cole Palmer unable to get into the XI, but you feel that will now change.
