Tottenham Hotspur have some absolutely rapid players in their squad.
Brennan Johnson and Heung-Min Son are both absolute speedsters, but, interestingly, perhaps the fastest players at Spurs are in the defence.
Indeed. Tottenham’s defenders play such a high line and having a lot of pace is very important to the way Spurs play.
Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Pedro Porro has been answering questions about some of his Spurs teammates alongside Cristian Romero, and he claimed that Micky van de Ven is actually faster than him.

Porro spoke about Van de Ven and his speed.
“You talked about Micky van de Ven’s pace there, we have a question, who is faster, you, you or Micky van de Ven?” Porro was asked.
“No, I think Micky. I’d say Micky, yeah,” Porro said.
Micky van de Ven is faster than anyone
Pedro Porro isn’t wrong, Van de Ven is faster than him, and, in fact, he may be the quickest footballer we’ve ever seen.
According to The Speeds Database, no player has ever clocked a higher top speed than Van de Ven, with the Dutchman edging out another Tottenham favourite, Gareth Bale, to top spot in that regard.
Van de Ven is a ridiculous athlete, and his pace is so important to the way Spurs play as he’s able to easily play a high line while not being exposed in behind due to his incredible acceleration and ability to catch on-rushing strikers.
Tottenham’s season hasn’t exactly gone to plan, but there have been some bright sparks this term, and Van de Ven, regardless of where Spurs finish, can be proud of how his first year in English football has gone.
The Dutchman was an inspired signing by Tottenham last summer, and at the age of just 22, the sky may be the limit for the centre-back.
