Once the dust settles on Arsenal’s season and their second place finish, Edu Gaspar will be working diligently to improve and perfect Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Arsenal made real progress this year, and Mikel Arteta oversaw a league campaign boding the most wins in the club’s history.

Yet it still wasn’t enough, and Pep Guardiola’s winning-machine over in Manchester were crowned champions once again.

Naturally that begs the question – how can Arsenal improve?

The obvious answer, and the one you’ll hear from many pundits and fans is the acquisition of a new goal-scoring striker.

In January there were definitely merits to that suggestion, Arsenal were struggling to finish their chances and it was costing them points.

However, the rest of 2024 has been an entirely different story, and Kai Havertz has reinvigorated this attack as a false nine.

Arsenal are definitely no longer struggling to score goals, they’ve bagged 91 in their 38 games this season.

And rather than signing a new superstar striker, however tempting it may be, Arteta would be better served addressing his midfield.

Despite signing Declan Rice last summer, it’s largely thought that Arsenal need another world-class number six thus.

Rice is arguably one of the best in the world in the position, but is now enjoying a more advanced, attacking brief.

However, is that best for Arsenal long-term? Or should he return to the pivot allowing a specialist number eight?

If the latter is the case, then Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze proved exactly why he should be Arsenal’s priority on the final day of the Premier League yesterday.

The £50m-rated midfielder has enjoyed a stunning campaign, he’s recovered so well from his serious Achilles injury a few seasons ago.

Eze is a brilliant ball-carrier, someone who can help Arsenal in transitions, especially with Rice dictating play in the number six behind him.

The Palace man has a talismanic quality which can’t really be quantified, and would be so beneficial to Arsenal.

Perhaps Michael Olise is in the same boat, another player who could really add something to this Arsenal attack.

Both play with so much belief, as they demonstrated yesterday against Aston Villa in their 5-0 win.

Neither Eze or Olise would solve everything for Arsenal, but they would add real strength in depth to their attacking output, which perhaps is still a little bit lacking.
