Liverpool fans have been split right down the middle on their team’s new home kit, with some calling it ‘iconic’ and others labelling it the worst in years.

The final day of the Premier League season was a day of celebrating the past as Liverpool bid farewell to legendary manager Jurgen Klopp in a 2-0 win over Wolves.

But it was also a day to look forward as new manager Arne Slot was introduced to Anfield while the players sported the new home kit for the 2024/25 season.

Nike are the current manufacturer of the shirt but the new jersey has received a mixed reception from supporters.

Liverpool fans split on new home kit

Liverpool supporters have been divided on the kit, with some loving the design and others not so much.

The jersey takes inspiration from the kit worn in the 1984 season in which Joe Fagan’s side won the European Cup in Rome.

The shirt features a chrome yellow pattern as well as a striking white, red and yellow collar.

Some fans were delighted, with X users writing: ‘I love this new kit!!’, ‘Iconic kit’, ‘It’s retro, looks dope’ and ‘What a kit man.’

However, others weren’t so full of praise. One user asked: ‘Is it too late to change it?’

Those sentiments were echoed by another fan who wrote: ‘The ugliest jersey in two decades,’ with throwing-up emojis, one who said ‘dreadful collar’ and another who wrote: ‘Yellow is too bright for my liking. Should’ve been gold.’

When does Liverpool’s contract with Nike expire?

There is some good news for those fans who don’t like the kit and are eager for Liverpool to try something new.

According to reports, Liverpool’s deal with Nike, who have supplied the club’s kits since taking over from New Balance in 2020, will expire in 2025.

It’s been widely reported that Liverpool are closing in on a mega-money deal with Adidas to become the club’s kit manufacturer again from the 2025/26 season.

Sport Business reports the deal is set to be for five years and will be worth more than the current contract with Nike.
