Chris Waddle has delivered his verdict on this season’s title race after Arsenal and Manchester City both won in convincing fashion yesterday. 

Mikel Arteta’s side kept their nerve at the Emirates Stadium in the early kick-off on Saturday by picking up a 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and Declan Rice were all on target, with the latter putting in a standout display in the middle of the park.

All eyes were firmly on Manchester City just a few hours later as they hosted Wolves at the Etihad Stadium.

Erling Haaland netted four times as City thrashed Gary O’Neil’s side 5-1 in Manchester. Yesterday’s results leave the champions just a point behind Arsenal with a game in hand. 

City have become renowned for stepping up at the business end of the campaign and Arsenal will likely have to be flawless from here on out. 

Waddle predicts who’ll win the Premier League 

Following yesterday’s results, former England international Chris Waddle admitted he just can’t look past City regaining their Premier League crown. 

“Whatever Arsenal do, Manchester City better it, and this is the problem,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live [04/05 7:29 pm].

“Arsenal have got to hold their nerve, they have got to keep going, but this Manchester City team, with everybody fit, you see the bench today, how strong it is, I just cannot see anybody stopping them winning it.”

Regardless of whether or not Arsenal do end up lifting the title, Arteta’s men have once again made undeniable progress this season. 

It’s no secret that the Gunners fell away at a pivotal time last time out. They also suffered the same fate the season before as they missed out on Champions League football to arch-rivals Tottenham. 

They have come a long way since and have proven they can produce results when it really matters. 

Arsenal and Man City’s fixtures compared

City have the advantage of having a game in hand over Arsenal and it’s likely that Arteta’s side will be hoping for a favour from their north London rivals.

Indeed, City’s toughest test is likely to come at Tottenham, while Arsenal travel to Old Trafford next Sunday.
