Alan Shearer has made an interesting claim about Tottenham and Arsenal’s star players while he’s been crafting his best Premier League XI.

Speaking on the BBC Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast, Shearer was tasked with picking his best Premier League XI, and he ran into a bit of a dilemma in the attack.

Inevitably, Shearer picked both Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah in the attack, but he struggled to choose his third attacker.

The pundit ultimately picked Heung-Min Son, but he stated that he initially had Bukayo Saka earmarked for this position, but he concluded that Son was the better player.

Shearer spoke about both Son and Saka

“I’ve got Son, I’m going for Son. I was either going to put Saka or Son, but I’m going to put Son. He’s that good,” Shearer said.

“I was just thinking about where I could put him in, but, Son.”

Son vs Saka

This is a debate that is bound to split opinions.

On one hand, Saka has the higher ceiling and has probably been better than Son over the past 18 months.

On the other hand, Son has been doing it for much longer than Saka, he has a Premier League Golden Boot to his name, and, on his day, he’s unplayable.

Both men are incredible attackers who, at times, have to carry their respective teams, and it’s hard to separate the pair.

Shearer has picked Son over Saka, and it’s easy to understand that point of view considering how consistently brilliant Son has been for a long time now.

Son and Saka are both fantastic footballers who have defined the modern era of football in north London, and it’s almost impossible to say which player is better.
