Gary Neville has praised two Manchester United players following today’s 1-0 defeat against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s men were looking to bounce back on Sunday after a disappointing 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace earlier this week.

Manchester United enjoyed a bright start to the game, with Rasmus Hojlund having an opportunity to put them ahead during the early stages. But the Dane failed to convert after losing his foot-in and Arsenal took the lead through Leandro Trossard in the 20th minute.

It was ultimately down to a lapse in concentration from Casemiro, with the Brazilian failing to step up with United’s backline.

Despite struggling to create clear-cut opportunities against a well-organised Arsenal side, Gary Neville was impressed with United’s wide players in the opening period.

Neville impressed with Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho

Both Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho were real bright sparks for Ten Hag’s men at Old Trafford today.

Diallo earned a start over Antony but was replaced by the Brazilian in the 70th minute. The youngster produced some bright moments with his close control while Garnacho caused Ben White real problems down the left-hand side.

It led to praise from Neville on Sky Sports, with the United legend claiming the duo were ‘positive’ for Ten Hag’s side.

“Both wide players have been positive,” he said. “Garnacho is not afraid to go at people.”

Diallo’s stats vs Arsenal

Garnacho has impressed all season and has been a real bright spark for a struggling United side.

But Diallo’s performance will offer some encouragement for United fans as they have evidently struggled for quality options off the right-hand side, with Antony often underwhelming.

It was the 21-year-old’s sixth appearance in the Premier League this season and the statistics reflect a bright display from the youngster.
