Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged the Super Eagles to secure victory in the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF African Cup of Nations tournament,
emphasizing the positive impact it could have on the citizens facing economic challenges, including the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
Sanwo-Olu, addressing the team during a special dinner, highlighted their role as the country’s unifiers and encouraged them to demonstrate determination and team spirit.
He expressed belief in the team’s potential and stressed the importance of using sports as a healing tool for the nation.
The governor assured the players of the support of over 220 million Nigerians and emphasized the significance of not giving up during matches, citing the team’s spirit and commitment as crucial.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including the Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh, and Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau.
Despite a recent 2-0 loss in a friendly against Guinea, the Super Eagles continue their preparation for the 2023 AFCON.
