Genoa not keen on goalkeeper David de Gea

Serie A side Genoa are not too keen on signing former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea this summer.

Yesterday, it was reported that De Gea saw Genoa as an option for his future and he had opened up to the idea of playing for the club next season.

But it doesn’t seem as if Genoa would open up to the possibility. Il Secolo XIX have reported (via TMW) that while Genoa do believe that the signing would get a lot of media attention, it would not be in line with their project. The player has actually been offered to the Rossoblu and it is an intermediary who has been working on his future.

Genoa believe that his profile doesn’t suit them and they’re not appealed by the fact that he has been out of action for about a year now. The Rossoblu have a youth policy in place where they sign players of a specific age and that is why they had initially signed Josep Martinez before selling him to Inter.

They already have other names in mind and it seems as if the De Gea option isn’t taking off.
