Arsenal have been linked with a number of exciting signings heading into the summer.

The likes of Alexander Isak and Martin Zubimendi have been linked with a move to the Emirates in the summer transfer window, and it sounds as though the Gunners could be very active again this summer.

Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Arsenal and their transfer plans, and he’s re-affirmed links to Jorrel Hato.

TBR reported exclusively earlier this month that Hato is a player Arsenal are keen on this summer, and now, Arsenal have gone one step further, stating that the Gunners actually believe they’re frontrunners in the race to sign Hato.

Romano spoke about Arsenal and their view on the race to sign Hato.

“Yes, Arsenal are also working on their future, we know they have many wonderkids in the academy, but there is a player they love. He is playing at Ajax, a centre-back and it is Jorrel Hato,” Romano said.

“Hato signed a new deal at Ajax two months ago, but Arsenal are still following him. They believe Hato is a top centre-back in terms of potential. Keep an eye on Arsenal, they are still pushing for Hato, they believe they are frontrunners in the race to sign him. Let’s see if they can make it happen this summer or if it has to be in the future.”

Hato could be a fantastic signing

Jorrel Hato may only be a teenager, but make no mistake about it, he could be a brilliant signing for Arsenal.

The Dutchman is already playing a key role for Ajax in the Eredivisie at the age of just 18, and his versatility is exactly what Arsenal are looking for from a new defender.

Romano says that Hato is a top centre-back, but he can also operate brilliantly at left-back, and, as we have seen in recent years with the signings of Jurrien Timber, Ben White and Jakub Kiwior, versatile defenders are something Mikel Arteta really values in his squad.

At the age of just 18, Hato is one for the future, and the future will look bright at Arsenal if they can sign the ‘fantastic’ defender.
