Burnley are working on potential options to replace Vincent Kompany – as they may part company with the Belgian this summer, TBR Football understands.

Kompany himself is understood to be considering his future at Turf Moor following their relegation from the Premier League.

The Belgian, despite Burnley’s relegation, has a number of admirers in the top-flight and is believed to be on the long list of Brighton and Brentford, should they happen to lose their managers this summer.

Burnley consider Mark Robins and Ashley Cole

TBR can reveal that one name that Burnley appreciate is Coventry City’s Mark Robins – who guided them to this season’s FA Cup semi-final this season.

They are also one of the clubs who have been linked with former Chelsea defender and current Birmingham coach Ashley Cole – who is looking for his first managerial role.

It appears the club are carrying out their due diligence on viable successors before making a final decision on Kompany’s future.

Thomas Frank has been linked with the Manchester United job, so perhaps if he were to leave, The Clarets manager could depart for Brentford.

Burnley could be making a huge mistake

Sacking Kompany feels far too premature as few would doubt his ability to get Burnley back up to the Premier League next season.

Having already led the Turf Moor outfit to a 101-point triumph in the second tier last term, it’d seem bizarre to decline him the opportunity to try and replicate that feat again.

Further, it’s evident the Belgian is still learning his trade in the dugout, so he’s only going to learn and improve as a manager.

Burnley could be making a huge mistake if they are to move him on.
