Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has emphasized that Jadon Sancho holds the reins to his own future with the club, following his recent exclusion from the first team.
Sancho found himself left out of the squad for the match against Arsenal before the international break, leading to a public exchange of criticism. Ten Hag questioned the player’s work rate during training, while Sancho accused the manager of making him a “scapegoat.”
Despite a week of public disagreement, Sancho did not issue an apology to Ten Hag for his comments. Consequently, he was instructed to train separately from the senior squad.
Initially uncertain about Sancho’s future with the club, Ten Hag has now suggested that the player has the power to determine his own destiny at Manchester United.
“It depends on him,” Ten Hag remarked when asked about Sancho’s future. “For the rest, we are preparing for Burnley, and that’s our focus.”
However, Ten Hag confirmed that Sancho would not be part of the squad for the upcoming match.
While Sancho’s absence is certain, Ten Hag is hopeful that several injured players, including Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Sofyan Amrabat, and Mason Mount, might be available for the Burnley game.
United currently sits 13th in the Premier League standings but is considered a strong favorite going into the match against Burnley, a team that has only earned one point from their first four games of the season.
