Howe maintained his defiance during the pre-match press conference, expressing frustration over another VAR decision that went against Newcastle.

The controversy involved Tino Livramento being penalized for handball after a cross from Ousmane Dembele hit his elbow and torso, leading to Kylian Mbappe converting a penalty.

As Newcastle prepares for their upcoming Premier League clash against Manchester United at St James’ Park on Saturday, Howe delivered a rallying cry to both his players and the fans.

Howe said: “We have to try and use it as motivation. I don’t know if that feeling has to be injustice, but if that helps certain players reach their full potential for this game, I’m all for that. I always want that sense that we are against everybody outside of Newcastle. That helps us. It’s a good mentality to have, that we are competing against everybody else. It has certainly served us well to this point so if it helps the players, great. I don’t think I had to develop [that attitude] strategically. I think it has happened [naturally].”

Newcastle is set to host Manchester United as both teams aim to bounce back from midweek Champions League setbacks.

With Newcastle trailing their opponents by just one point, they aim to replicate their previous performance, securing a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup.
