Tottenham have collapsed recently.

The north London club have been absolutely shocking as of late. They’ve lost four league games in a row, and it wouldn’t be the biggest shock in the world if that run extended to five games against Burnley this weekend as the Clarets fight for their lives.

Tottenham have been poor latrely largely due to their shoddy midfield showings.

There has been a lot of chat about Yves Bissouma’s decline in the Tottenham midfield, but he’s not the only player who has gone backwards.

Indeed, speaking on The Game Football Podcast, Gregor Robertson has noted that Pape Matar Sarr has also been poor as of late.

Pape Matar Sarr has gone backwards

Robertson spoke about the £15m man and Bissouma’s recent struggles.

“I look at the rest of the team and there are players who season after season for Spurs have shown glimpses and not sustained it. We’re seeing it again, Bissouma started the season outstandingly, but he’s been nowhere near it, Sarr has dropped off as well after a good start,” Robertson said.

Sarr and Bissouma started the season brilliantly

It’s such a shame to see Sarr and Bissouma discussed in this way, because at the start of the season, these two were electric.

Ange Postecoglou had seemingly unlocked both players, but, sadly, they’ve reverted back to the mean and now look more recognisable as the players we saw playing under Antonio Conte last season.

Sarr and Bissouma do have plenty of ability, but, sadly, something is lacking at the moment, be that confidence, fitness or a mixture of both.

Postecoglou needs to figure out a way to get both of these players back firing, because Spurs look like such a better team when these two are playing at the peak of their powers.
