Liverpool moved one step closer to lifting the Premier League title with a late win against West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday.

For a brief moment it looked as if Arne Slot would watch his Liverpool side surrender two points at the death, only for Virgil van Dijk to then make up for his part in Andrew Robertson’s own goal.

Van Dijk stood big and whilst neither he or Mohamed Salah delivered a vintage performance on the back of a lot of positive contract news, they were still both vital in the two goals Liverpool scored.

That being said, even with Salah signing a new deal and Van Dijk on the eve of doing so two, there will be a lot of work for Richard Hughes to oversee in the transfer market this summer.

FSG have paid the necessary costs to keep two legends at the club, and it now seems as if they will back Slot in the transfer market too, aiming to go one better next season.

David Ornstein says Liverpool will be ‘very busy’ in summer transfer window

With that in mind, reliable journalist David Ornstein shared an update on Liverpool’s contract situations and plans for the summer window on NBC Sports prior to their win over West Ham.

Ornstein mentioned Liverpool’s interest in Dean Huijsen as well as Milos Kerkez at Bournemouth and then also discussed the names of six players who also have some doubt surrounding their futures, in addition to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Ornstein said: “It’s going to be a really busy summer with recruitment, I think they’re in the mix for Dean Huijsen at Bournemouth, the centre-half.

“Milos Kerkez, the left-back at Bournemouth. Perhaps a striker with Darwin Nunez expected to leave as well.

“The uncertainty surrounding Ibrahima Konate who’s going into the last 12-months of his contract, with no breakthrough on those terms.

“What’s going to happen with Jarell Quansah, Harvey Elliott, Joe Gomez… even Luis Diaz is approaching the final two years of his contract so there’s a lot to sort out.

“But the key two pillars, Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk – one is here to stay, one is going to be very soon.”

Who is the right striker for Arne Slot?

Interestingly, Slot praised two West Ham players after Sunday’s win, perhaps a duo who he might even be interested in bringing to Liverpool.

Of course, if Liverpool wanted to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United this summer, depending on how possible that is, that would take a huge chunk out of their summer budget.

Newcastle plan to keep Isak and their surge towards a Champions League spot should be very helpful towards doing so.

And therefore it will be interesting to see who Liverpool’s recruitment team target, a department who usually got it right under Jurgen Klopp.
