Overcoming a challenging start, the Blues dominated the Blades, achieving consecutive home wins in the Premier League for the first time since October 2022.

Despite Sheffield United’s resilience in the first half, Chelsea gained control as they accelerated, leaving the visitors with minimal gains as they headed back north.

The first half passed without noteworthy action – Conor Gallagher’s dipping shot was easily saved by Wes Foderingham, and Cameron Archer’s curling strike narrowly missed the target off the Blues skipper’s heel.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Cole Palmer showcased skillful trickery, getting past Max Lowe, but his shot was blocked by Auston Trusty.

In the 54th minute, Chelsea seized the lead as Raheem Sterling darted into the Sheffield United box, reaching the byline and cutting back for Palmer to score from six yards.

Shortly after, Chelsea secured a second goal in unusual circumstances. Sterling sought a penalty after being pulled back by Anel Ahmedhodzic. While play continued, everyone, except Palmer, stood still, allowing him to hook the ball back for Nicolas Jackson to tap home.

Sheffield United found the net through William Osula, but the goal was disallowed as James McAtee had taken possession out of play before the cutback for the young forward.

Chelsea had an opportunity to add a third when Palmer broke away, delivering a clever low cross to Armando Broja, who, from a few yards out, surprisingly fired over.
