Danny Rose is a modern Tottenham legend.

The left-back was a part of a brilliant Tottenham team under Mauricio Pochettino and he was a hero from day one after scoring that winner against Arsenal on his Premier League debut.

Rose is a player who will always be remembered at Spurs, but his career could have panned out very differently.

Indeed, speaking to The Spurs Show, Rose has now stated that he could’ve joined Chelsea instead of Tottenham when he left Leeds, but, luckily, he didn’t end up joining the Blues.

“The move, you could’ve gone to Chelsea couldn’t you? Thank goodness you didn’t,” Rose was asked.

“Yeah so Chelsea came in for the three of us,(Michael) Woods and (Tom) Taiwo were the other two,”

Rose became a star at Tottenham, but it’s hard to imagine he would’ve had the same sort of trajectory at Chelsea.

Indeed, if Rose had joined the Blues, he’d have been playing behind Ashley Cole up until 2014, while after that he’d have to compete with the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, and it probably wouldn’t have worked out.

Meanwhile, at Spurs, left-back was a problem position for quite some time as likes of Benoit Assou-Ekotto struggled to make much of a mark at Tottenham, while Gareth Bale ultimately proved to be a better option on the wing.

That gap opened up for Rose, and he made sure to take his opportunity when it came up.

Rose’s decision to join Tottenham over Chelsea proved to be the right choice, and while he would’ve won more trophies at Chelsea, for the good of his career, joining Spurs was certainly the right choice.

Rose ultimately went on to become one of the Premier League’s best left-backs at Tottenham.
