Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao and Arda Guler will all start against Cadiz, ahead of a match that could see them confirmed as champions.

Ancelotti said that Guler would begin the match, and also confirmed the presence of the Courtois for the first time this season.

“Yes, he’s fine. Tomorrow he will play after a long time. It’s good news that he’s back, just like Militao. He can contribute, he’s fine, he’s very excited. We’re delighted that he’s back.”

Yet it will be Andriy Lunin in goal against Bayern Munich during midweek, after speculation that the Belgian could replace him in the Champions League too..

“The final we have in mind is Wednesday against Bayern, where Lunin will play. Then, we’ll see.”

The Italian manager had been critical of their defensive efforts in the first half against Bayern Munich, and was asked if he would make changes in the second leg, as well as whether Militao would start against Cadiz.

“I’m not talking about individuals. The team, in my opinion, was too passive against Bayern. We have to be more aggressive. I told the players as much.”

“Militao will play tomorrow to get some rhythm.”

Ancelotti was asked whether in a month’s time Courtois would be ready for a final a month down the line, and if he would start. Ancelotti said that they were not thinking beyond Wednesday, and would take each case on its own merits, referring to Militao and Courtois.

“The injury is similar, but the interpretations are different. Defenders have different circumstances than a goalkeeper. One can be adapted before and another after. On a physical level they are fine, they have been medically cleared. Then we have to evaluate the situations.”

If Los Blancos beat Cadiz, and Barcelona fail to do the same against Girona in a game that kicks off half an hour after their game finishes, then Real Madrid will be confirmed as champions for the 36th time. Ancelotti said that they had made no plans for celebrations or heading to Cibeles, where they traditionally celebrate trophies, as it was not in their hands.
