Carabao Cup Semis Draw: Liverpool and Chelsea’s Fate Decided in Draw

Chelsea is slated to take on Championship side Middlesbrough, while Liverpool is set to face Fulham in the upcoming Carabao Cup semi-finals.

Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, and a double from Curtis Jones marked a convincing performance for the team, establishing them as strong contenders for this season’s cup.

In contrast, Chelsea faced a challenging path to the semi-finals, engaging in a tense penalty shootout against Newcastle United after a 1-1 draw in regular time. Mykhailo Mudryk’s last-minute goal proved crucial for Chelsea’s advancement.

Middlesbrough, led by manager Michael Carrick, progressed to the semi-finals by defeating Port Vale 3-0 in the quarter-finals. Fulham secured their spot by overcoming Everton in a penalty shootout at Goodison Park.

The draw sets the stage for a potential rematch of the 2022 final between Liverpool and Chelsea if both teams secure anticipated victories.

In the 2023/24 Carabao Cup semi-finals, Middlesbrough will face Chelsea, while Liverpool will take on Fulham. The first leg matches are scheduled for the week of January 8, with the second legs following a few weeks later on the week starting January 22.
