Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has called upon the entire squad to assume responsibility for the team’s recent string of results, highlighting that defensive mistakes are just one part of the issue.

Following defensive lapses that have led to recent losses, including goalkeeper Andre Onana taking responsibility for conceding against Bayern Munich, Fernandes stressed that the problems extend beyond just the defensive line.

“The problem is in everything,” Fernandes stated in an interview with TNT Sports. “We have to score goals when we have opportunities, we have to know how to take advantage of them, and we have to defend as a team.”

He emphasized the collective effort needed in defending, stating, “All 11 players have to defend. We must all be linked and connected so that we help each other, and that means we don’t concede goals. It has nothing to do with the defensive part.”

Fernandes also pointed out issues in the team’s pressing and transition game, which have led to vulnerabilities, especially against fast and skilled opponents.

Turning his attention to the offensive side, Fernandes questioned the squad’s ability to capitalize on opportunities. “We are in a moment that is not positive,” he remarked. “Even though we scored three goals, the offensive part also has to be worked on because we have to score more goals at every opportunity we have.”

Manchester United currently sits 13th in the Premier League after five games, with just six points and a -4 goal difference. The pressure is mounting on manager Erik ten Hag, who will be expecting a strong response from his team as they face Burnley on Saturday.
