Barcelona defender Eric Garcia has confirmed that he would return to the club from his season-long loan at Girona this summer and reassess the situation with the Catalan side. However he would potentially be open to an exit too.

Xavi Hernandez was seemingly keen to hang onto Garcia for next season, but it remains to be seen how Hansi Flick will see his role in the squad. According to Bar Canaletes, Garcia would be open to staying at Girona though, with the Blanc-i-Vermells considering him a potential flagship signing for their backline this summer. However the main sticking point is his salary, with Girona unlikely to fit the bill for his current salary, believed to be between €7-9m per annum.

Previous reports have stated that Barcelona would be willing to do business at around €15-20m for the 23-year-old, who has been a standout for Girona this season. Making 32 appearances and scoring five goals, Garcia has two years left on his deal, and Barcelona are likely facing a decision on whether to sell him this summer or extend his contract at any rate.
