Arsenal invested £65 million to secure the services of German international Kai Havertz from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
However, the player faced challenges in finding form during his initial months with the North London club.
In recent weeks, Havertz appears to have overcome these difficulties, notably scoring four goals in the past month of club competitions.
Mikel Arteta, addressing the media after Havertz’s goal in a significant victory against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday, emphasized the crucial role confidence has played in the player’s enhanced performances.
“His confidence is growing and he feels more secure on the field. The fact he’s scored one helped to score the second one. It’s four in seven games now and he should have scored a header today as well in a really good position,” said Arteta.
“But overall, his performances, the intelligence he shows on the pitch, the aggression, how he works defensively, it’s top. Really good.”
Speaking about the win itself, Arteta was keen to praise his players for an “outstanding” outing at the Emirates Stadium: “Outstanding, incredible. Big compliment to the team and to the players. I think we had an incredible performance against a top team.
“I think we fully deserved to win the game. I have to praise them because I know how difficult it is and what Brighton do to teams. We didn’t allow that to happen, so I’m super happy.”
The Gunners and Havertz aim to sustain their impressive form as they prepare to take on title rivals Liverpool at Anfield next Saturday.
