Despite being demoted to the role of the second-choice goalkeeper this season, Ramsdale remains determined to compete for his position.

Arteta, ahead of the upcoming match against Luton Town, conveyed to TribalFootball that Ramsdale is prepared to fight for his place in the team.

The Spanish goalkeeper David Raya, signed from Brentford in the summer, currently holds the no.1 position under Arteta’s management.

“I want Aaron with us. I am very happy to have two very very good goalkeepers and Aaron is staying with us.

“I have spoken to him. He’s willing to play.

“Like any player, he wants to play for Arsenal. That’s what he wants to do. Then the other is a consequence. And as well for England it’s not like he has started a lot of games, so hopefully we can help him be better here so then he can play for England.”

Ramsdale commenced his professional club career at Sheffield United before transferring to AFC Bournemouth in 2017.

Following loan spells at Chesterfield and AFC Wimbledon, he returned to Bournemouth for a season and later rejoined Sheffield United in an initial £18 million deal.

In 2021, Ramsdale made a significant move to Arsenal in a club-record transfer, valued at up to £30 million, making him the club’s most expensive goalkeeper.

Throughout his career, Ramsdale has represented England at various levels, from under-18 to the senior team. He achieved success by winning the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2017 and being part of the squad that finished as runners-up at UEFA Euro 2020.
