Arsenal recorded a routine 2-0 win over Manchester United on Wednesday night to narrow the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool to seven points.

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have now made it four wins in a row since the international break as they handed Ruben Amorim his first defeat as Red Devils boss.

Arsenal have made quite a name for themselves as set-piece experts and both of their goals against Man United came from such scenarios.

The Gunners opened the scoring in the 54th minute, Declan Rice whipping in a corner that Jurrien Timber headed home at the near post.

Then, in the 73rd minute, Bukayo Saka was the man to deliver the corner, Thomas Partey connecting at the far post and William Saliba getting the final touch.

At the end of the game, a number of Arsenal fans all made a similar point about Saliba, who delivered a superb performance.

Arsenal fans wowed by William Saliba’s Man of the Match-worthy display against Manchester United

Some Arsenal fans believed Saliba was worthy of the Man of the Match award, as they felt he was the best player on the night.

Gunners supporters felt the Frenchman delivered a performance so good it was “ridiculous” and deemed him “generational”.

Jakub Kiwior also delivered a solid display for Arsenal as he showed he’s still a valuable squad member.

Football.london gave Saliba a 9 out of 10 for his efforts on the night.

‘Stood out above the rest in a low quality first half with how well he handled Hojlund and played out,’ they wrote.

‘Didn’t know a lot about his goal, but deserved the luck for his display.’

Meanwhile, the Evening Standard gave Saliba an 8 out of 10, though they named him their star player.

‘Right from the off he was so composed on the ball, even making a few good runs forward,’ they wrote.

‘Rewarded with a goal to make it 2-0. Dominant.’

Arsenal are next in action on Sunday when they head to London rivals Fulham for a Premier League game scheduled for a 2pm GMT kick-off.
