Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has expressed his readiness to manage the absence of Nigerian pair Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The duo, along with three other Leverkusen players—Edmond Tapsoba (Burkina Faso), Amine Adli (Ivory Coast), and Odilon Kossounou (Morocco)—are expected to be called up by their respective nations for the AFCON.
“That’s the game calendar,” Alonso told Kicker.
“We are losing some players, but we have seen that all players can play. We will decide so that we have a competitive team.
“I’m not crying. I’m not a victim. We have enough players.”
Cote d’Ivoire is set to host the 2023 AFCON from January 13 to February 5.
