Alejandro Garnacho explains why Man Utd were 'very angry' in Brentford victory

Alejandro Garnacho has admitted the Manchester United squad were left seething after the controversial nature of Brentford’s goal on Saturday.

The Red Devils were made to play with ten men temporarily as centre-back Matthijs de Ligt was forced off the field to deal with a head injury which left him with blood pouring down the side of his face.

Without a key presence in the box, United fell 1-0 behind when Ethan Pinnock headed home from a corner late in the first half.

Erik ten Hag admitted after the game that United channelled that frustration to produce a sensational second-half display, with Garnacho confessing the squad were unimpressed by the manner in which they fell behind.

“We are very happy, but I also think that we played a good performance in the first half,” Garnacho told MUTV.

“We were 1-0 down but I think we played, in general, a very good game. After the first half we were very angry because we played with ten men for a little bit of the time, but with a good mentality we came back in the game.

“I missed two big chances in the first half but I came to the second one with the same mentality: try to score and win the game. Finally I could do it. Also, Rasmus [Hojlund], I am happy for him.”

Garnacho and Hojlund were on target in the second half in a sensational team display which temporarily eased the pressure on Ten Hag’s shoulders.
