EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
French teenager Desire Doue is emerging on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, who are ready to compete for his signature this summer, TBR Football understands.
Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund are all understood to be following Desire Doue closely – believing him to be one of the best prospects in Europe.
18-year-old Doue, an attacking midfielder, made his debut in 2022 and has emerged as a huge talent in Ligue 1.
Arsenal and Man United watching Desire Doue closely
TBR Football can reveal that Arsenal and Manchester United have recently been watching Doue closely, joining the likes of Aston Villa, Chelsea and Newcastle – who we understand have been tracking Doue for over 12 months.
TBR also revealed on Monday that United are among a number of Premier League clubs to have been alerted to the potential availability of Barcelona starlet Vitor Roque.
Elsewhere, Arsenal remain keen on bolstering their options at left-back this summer, with Ajax’s Jorrel Hato of interest to the north London club.
Doue’s stats for Stade Rennais
Doue has enjoyed a breakthrough season in Ligue 1 after displaying plenty of promise at Stade Rennais last time out.
The youngster has netted four times while providing six assists in 41 appearances this term. He’s also impressed at youth level for France, managing two goals in as many games for the U23s side.
Given his quick rise in French football, Doue has earned comparisons to Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney. The midfielder’s strength has been described as reminiscent of a young Rooney while also possessing ‘elegant technique’.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise to see Doue linked with a host of top clubs following an impressive spell with Rennes.
The Frenchman has mainly operated off the left-hand side this term. But he’s proven to be a versatile option for boss Julien Stephan as he’s also played as an advanced midfielder, as well as on the right.
