Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed his surprise at Mohamed Salah’s injury during the Africa Cup of Nations.
Salah, the top scorer for Liverpool this season, pulled up during Egypt’s 2-2 draw with Ghana, clutching his hamstring after attempting a sprint just before half-time.
While Salah walked off the field unaided, Klopp mentioned that the extent of the injury is yet to be determined through tests.
Klopp admitted it was initially shocking, and further assessments are underway to understand the nature of Salah’s hamstring discomfort.
Regarding the possibility of Liverpool sending their medical staff to assess Salah, Klopp stated, “We will see; that depends on the diagnosis.
There will be an ultrasound and they will do an MRI, and then we will know what it is, and then we will see what Egypt plans. But it’s too early [to say], sorry.”
Salah, the current top scorer in the Premier League with 14 goals, has played a crucial role in Liverpool’s ascent to the top of the table.
The team’s only defeat came in a controversial match against Tottenham Hotspur. While Salah’s future at Liverpool is uncertain, 90min understands that he remains a primary target for the Saudi Pro League, with Al Hilal expected to be in the mix for a potential move in the upcoming summer transfer window.
