Ratcliffe and his INEOS company have finalized a deal to acquire a 25% stake in Manchester United.
The billionaire recently attended his first match at Old Trafford since the announcement, witnessing the 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
During a pre-match press conference, Ratcliffe expressed his excitement about being at Old Trafford but refrained from answering questions due to the ongoing approval process.
Despite this, he did respond to a few inquiries, acknowledging that joining United was more exciting than anything else he had done.
While awaiting Premier League approval, Ratcliffe provided an update on the timeline, stating, “I think it’s three or four weeks, early Feb. I hope they don’t find anything dodgy on my CV!”
During the 2-2 draw, Ratcliffe sat alongside Sir Alex Ferguson as Erik ten Hag’s side faced challenges in maintaining control of the game.
Briefly touching on his discussions with the Dutchman, Ratcliffe mentioned, “I have met Erik, but it would be inappropriate to disclose details until it’s all formalized.
“Expressing his excitement about attending his first match since the acquisition, Ratcliffe reminisced about his early experiences at Old Trafford, stating, “I first came here when I was a kid, quite young, around 10 years old. It’s been 60 years.
“With INEOS involved in various sports ventures, including Formula 1, rugby, cycling, sailing, and ownership of Ligue 1 side Nice, Ratcliffe acknowledged that he won’t be able to attend every United home game.
He mentioned, “I can’t come all the time because I have got a few other things to manage. I will come quite a lot.”
