Ajax Manager Affirms Discussions with Jordan Henderson Are Substantial.

Last week, 90min reported that Henderson is set to meet with Al Ettifaq officials to express his intention to leave the club.

His concerns about settling in Saudi Arabia and uncertainties regarding his future with the England national team are the driving factors.

While Premier League and Bundesliga teams have shown interest, Ajax emerged as potential suitors recently.

Van ‘t Schip has now confirmed Ajax’s keen interest in finalizing a deal, stating, “There is serious talk going on with Henderson.

He still has some things to arrange in Saudi Arabia. It could be a nice match. It’s no secret that we could really use that type of player. Other guys can benefit from that.”

Despite Ajax’s interest, 90min has learned that Al Ettifaq is currently not considering parting ways with Henderson.

The Saudi club, having signed the former Liverpool captain just six months ago, does not feel compelled to agree to a sale.

Henderson played a significant role in Al Ettifaq’s project this season, and there is considerable reluctance to separate from him at this point in the campaign.

Any potential negotiations are likely to involve Al Ettifaq demanding a substantial fee, possibly close to £20m, to make a profit on Henderson.

Club officials are expected to insist on such terms, and even a loan deal would require a substantial fee in addition to covering the full payment of the midfielder’s wages.

These financial demands may present challenges for Ajax, currently positioned fifth in the Eredivisie standings after a challenging start to the season had them closer to the relegation zone.
