Reports from December indicated that both Liverpool and Brighton and Hove Albion were keeping tabs on the former Santa Fe centre-back,

who joined Argentina in July 2023.Club president Andres Fassi disclosed that the two English Premier League teams have requested details about Mantilla, but a transfer this winter seems unlikely.

Fassi mentioned, “It’s true, they have been following him for four months now.

And they asked us for information about his physical records.

“When asked if CA Talleres plans to let Mantilla leave during the January transfer window, Fassi straightforwardly replied, “No.”

Mantilla, having made over 20 appearances for Colombia’s Under-20 side, played a role in reaching the quarter-finals of the age group’s World Cup last summer before their elimination by eventual runners-up Italy.

Liverpool has faced defensive challenges in the 2023/24 season due to injuries to key players.

Andy Robertson, the Scottish left-back, is expected to return in late January after shoulder surgery, and Trent Alexander-Arnold is sidelined with a knee problem.

Despite no winter signings at Anfield so far, 20-year-old Jarell Quansah and France international Ibrahima Konate have been making significant contributions.

Additionally, players like Marcelo Pitaluga, Fabio Carvalho, Vitezslav Jaros, and Luke Chambers have been loaned out.
