Mauricio Pochettino Praises Noni Madueke as an Example for Chelsea Squad

The 21-year-old faced challenges securing playing time in the initial half of the season, participating in only six of the first 17 Premier League games, with just one start.

Pochettino openly urged Madueke to elevate his performances in training to earn more minutes.In response to the challenge, Madueke showcased improvement by making an impact off the bench in the 2-1 defeat against Wolves, scoring as a substitute against Crystal Palace, and securing a start with a goal in Chelsea’s victory over Luton Town.

Expressing satisfaction with Madueke’s progress, Pochettino emphasized the player’s commitment and improvement. Pochettino sees Madueke as an example, highlighting the importance of behavior, consistency, and commitment for success.

Pochettino also clarified that he played no role in influencing Noni Madueke’s decision to depart Tottenham Hotspur for PSV Eindhoven at the age of 16.

“He was 16 when I was there; we knew him because we followed the players in the academy at Tottenham, but he was a talented player,” stated the manager.

Pochettino confirmed that Madueke is expected to feature in the FA Cup third-round clash against Preston on Saturday.

The manager revealed his intention to field a close-to-strongest side against the Championship team, currently positioned 14th in England’s second tier.
