Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino is considering a return to the Premier League, according to TalkFooty, and may depart from Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia this January.
Firmino, who joined Al Ahli on a three-year contract after leaving Liverpool last summer, initially had a strong start with a hat-trick in the opening match.
However, he has since struggled to secure a spot in the starting lineup and has not scored in the subsequent 18 appearances.
Fulham and Nottingham Forest are reportedly monitoring Firmino’s situation, with Sheffield United previously expressing interest under former manager Paul Heckingbottom.
The Blades’ current status under Chris Wilder and recent signings has left their interest unclear.
Roberto Firmino is attracting interest from Brazil and Turkey as well. Initially, there were discussions about retaining Firmino in Saudi Arabia, with Al Shabab and Al Ettifaq expressing interest.
However, financial constraints may hinder this, as it would require Al Ahli to cover a significant portion of his wages for a potential deal. Given these challenges, it appears more likely that Firmino will explore opportunities abroad.
Despite Al Ettifaq’s eighth position in the Saudi Pro League, manager Steven Gerrard has expressed the need for reinforcements. However, financial limitations make expensive overseas signings difficult for Al Ettifaq, making a move for Firmino an appealing option.
Firmino, who recently watched Liverpool’s victory over Newcastle United with former teammate Fabinho, is open to various possibilities. Any potential move would likely be temporary since Firmino is still considered part of Al Ahli’s long-term plans. While no formal offer has been made at present, the situation could evolve before the transfer window closes.
