Los Angeles FC has officially announced the successful completion of an agreement to acquire goalkeeper Hugo Lloris from Tottenham Hotspur.
Lloris expressed his desire to part ways with Spurs during the summer, and under the management of Ange Postecoglou, he did not feature, with Guglielmo Vicario taking on the goalkeeper role.
Although a move in the summer didn’t materialize, Lloris has now secured his departure, and Tottenham has confirmed his permanent transfer in the coming days.
LAFC co-president & general manager John Thorrington expressed excitement about Lloris joining, acknowledging his exceptional career and leadership qualities. Thorrington thanked Tottenham for their collaboration and extended a warm welcome to Hugo, his wife Maine, and their three children to LAFC.
Tottenham issued a heartfelt tribute to Lloris, acknowledging his remarkable 11-year tenure with the club, during which he amassed 447 appearances across various competitions.
“We wish Hugo and his family all the best for the future,” Spurs concluded.
“We shall come together to say thank you to Hugo in person during half-time at Sunday’s match against AFC Bournemouth at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. If you’re attending the game, please remain in your seat at half-time as we celebrate the career of one of our modern-day greats.”
