NFF Debunks Rumors of AFCON 2023 Super Eagles NIKE Jersey Launch

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has refuted claims circulating on social media about the release of new Super Eagles NIKE jerseys for AFCON 2023, TalkFooty reports.

The NFF communicated this information through a statement released on X. Unverified reports circulating on various social media platforms suggested that the NFF had revealed new jerseys for the Eagles to don in Côte d’Ivoire.

Images of green and white jerseys were shared on some profiles, implying they were the new kits for the competition. In response to these reports, the NFF, through a statement on its X handle, rejected the claims.

“Rumours about a new jersey launch between NIKE and the senior men’s national team circulating round social media has been brought to our notice. We want to inform the general public that this claim is not true.

“At the moment, we have no jersey being launched for the Super Eagles for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to hold in Côte d’Ivoire next month,” NFF confirms.

The Eagles find themselves in Group A alongside hosts Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau for the AFCON 2023.

They are set to kick off their campaign against Equatorial Guinea on January 14, 2024. The tournament itself is scheduled to run from January 13 to February 11 next year.

In the meantime, the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire have revealed their final 27-man squad. Notable inclusions are Sebastien Haller, Nicolas Pepe, Serge Aurier, and Franck Kessie.

However, Wilfried Zaha and Eric Bailly did not make the cut for the upcoming AFCON.
