Brighton Soar with Pedro’s Double in Commanding Victory Against Spurs

Brighton, despite grappling with injuries, secured a notable victory against Tottenham at the AMEX Stadium on Thursday night, propelled by a stunning long-range goal from Pervis Estupinan and two penalties converted by Joao Pedro.

Jack Hinshelwood initiated Brighton’s lead, followed by Joao Pedro’s successful penalty after Dejan Kulusevski fouled Danny Welbeck in the box.

Estupinan, coming off the bench, added a third goal for Brighton in the 63rd minute, making it a formidable advantage. Despite Tottenham’s attempts to breach Brighton’s defense, the absence of recognized center-backs proved challenging.

Pedro capitalized on a foul by Giovani Lo Celso on Evan Ferguson, converting his second penalty. Spurs managed to score through Alejo Veliz and Ben Davies, but Brighton maintained their lead, securing all three points.

Both teams grappling with injuries, an anticipated open match unfolded in the first-ever managerial clash between Roberto De Zerbi and Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs initially dominated, but Brighton soon tested Guglielmo Vicario, saving well from Welbeck. In the 11th minute, Hinshelwood’s second Premier League goal breached Tottenham’s defense, and Joao Pedro doubled the lead from the penalty spot.

Brighton continued pressing, with Milner hitting the post, while Buonanotte’s goal was ruled offside. Porro’s defensive lapse was almost exploited by Pedro, but Vicario denied the opportunity.

Richarlison hit the post, and the half ended with Brighton in control. The second half saw Brighton winning three consecutive corners before Estupinan’s thunderous strike extended the lead. Lo Celso’s foul on Ferguson allowed Pedro to score his second penalty.

Tottenham found consolation as Veliz netted his first goal for the club, and Davies headed in from Porro’s cross. Despite late pressure, Brighton held on for a 4-2 victory, narrowing the gap to six points.
