Wout Weghorst attributes his unsuccessful loan spell at Manchester United last season to the tactics employed by manager Erik ten Hag.
The Dutch striker, Wout Weghorst, made a mid-season move to Manchester United from Burnley last year, with the Red Devils paying Besiktas to terminate his loan.
Weghorst, expressing his joy at joining Old Trafford, was nearly emotional after scoring his debut goal against Real Betis in a Europa League match.
Now on loan at Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, the 31-year-old highlighted the contrasting playing style under Erik ten Hag at United, describing it as ‘different’ from what he was accustomed to in Germany and Turkey, where teams played to his strengths.
According to the Mirror, Weghorst emphasized the success during his time at United, contributing significantly to the team’s positive run.
Despite it being his childhood dream to play for the Red Devils, Wout Weghorst’s hopes were dashed when they chose not to sign him in the summer transfer window.
Reflecting on his time at Manchester United, Weghorst mentioned the immediate pressure and intense physical demands, describing them as more significant than he had ever experienced.
In the current season with Hoffenheim, he has managed to score four goals in 14 appearances.
