Super Eagles Reveal 40-Man Provisional List for AFCON 2023

The provisional squad for the Super Eagles for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire has been revealed, featuring a mix of experienced and young talent.
Although there is no official confirmation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) regarding the list, it includes six goalkeepers, 13 defenders, eight midfielders, and 13 forwards.
Among the goalkeepers, Amas Obasogie, Ojo Olorunleke, and Christian Nwoke represent the home-based players, while the list also features Francis Uzoho, Adebayo Adeleye, and Stanley Nwabali.
In defense, William Troost-Ekong and Kevin Akpoguma make a return, competing for a spot alongside Kenneth Omeruo, Bruno Onyemaechi, Ola Aina, Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Zaidu Sanusi, Calvin Bassey, Jordan Torunarigha, Chidozie Awaziem, Tyronne Ebuehi, and Jamilu Collins.
The midfield comprises Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Raphael Onyedika, Kelechi Nwakali, Joe Aribo, Frank Onyeka, Alhassan Yusuf, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
The forward options include Emmanuel Dennis, Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Terem Moffi, Paul Onuachu, Ahmed Musa, Cyriel Dessers, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ademola Lookman, Nathan Tella, Umar Sadiq, Moses Simon, and Samuel Chukwueze.
The Super Eagles are placed in Group A with hosts Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea.
Their opening game is scheduled for January 14, 2024, against Equatorial Guinea, followed by matches against Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau on January 18 and January 22, respectively.
