Real Madrid’s midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is on track for an unexpected early return from a foot fracture, with speculations of his comeback against Villarreal in La Liga on Sunday night.
Having missed the last eight games, spanning La Liga and Champions League fixtures due to an injury sustained during the Clasico win over Barcelona in late October, Tchouameni’s potential return this weekend offers a glimmer of hope, pending any unforeseen setbacks.
Before his injury, Tchouameni was a regular starter, with just two bench appearances in the games he was available for last season. His comeback could see him on the field in the final two matches before the winter break against Villarreal and Alaves, providing a valuable chance to regain match fitness.
A fully fit Tchouameni would be a considerable asset in January, given Madrid’s hectic schedule with six scheduled games across three competitions. If they progress in the Supercopa de Espana and Copa del Rey, the total could extend to nine.
During Tchouameni’s absence, the 38-year-old Luka Modric has seen an increased role, consistently starting in midfield. Real Madrid could potentially secure a temporary lead in La Liga with a victory over Villarreal, although current leaders Girona have a match against Alaves a day later.
