Serie A Club Urges Man United to Recall Greenwood from Getafe Loan

Lazio is reportedly still grappling with the fallout of their unsuccessful attempt to secure loan deal for Mason Greenwood last summer.

Despite Manchester United’s decision that Greenwood would no longer play for them, he eventually joined La Liga’s Getafe on loan for the season, securing regular first-team football.

The loan deal with Getafe was finalized just minutes before the summer transfer window closed, but Serie A’s Lazio had also pursued his signature, and their deal collapsed due to technical delays in the final moments of that afternoon.

La Lazio Siamo Noi reports that Lazio has not overcome the disappointment of the unsuccessful transfer and remains interested in bringing Mason Greenwood to the Stadio Olimpico.

The Italian outlet reports that Claudio Lotito, president and owner of the football club, is still eager to acquire Greenwood and may try to convince Manchester United to terminate his contract with Getafe prematurely.

Additionally, Lazio is reportedly considering a loan deal with a buyout clause of approximately £13 million in January, but Getafe is hesitant to release Greenwood.

The English forward has made a significant impact at Getafe, contributing four goals and three assists in 13 appearances.

This performance has played a crucial role in lifting the club from potential relegation concerns to the ninth position in the league table.

With Greenwood’s contract at Manchester United expiring in 2025, the club faces the decision to sell him either in the upcoming January window or the subsequent summer transfer window to generate revenue.
