Napoli’s Victor Osimhen clinches the prestigious 2023 CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award, according to reports from TalkFooty.com.ng.

Victor Osimhen outshineed Mohamed Salah and Achraf Hakimi to claim the coveted 2023 CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award. The announcement was made during the awards ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 11, 2023.

Osimhen secures a historic win, becoming the first Nigerian men’s player to clinch the CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.

He joins the elite company of Rashidi Yekini (1993), Emmanuel Amuneke (1994), Nwankwo Kanu (1996, 1999), and Victor Ikpeba (1997) as one of the few Nigerian men’s players to be honored as the African Best Player.

Super Falcons and Barcelona striker, Asisat Oshoala, secured a record-extending CAF Player award in the women’s category.

Oshoala outshone Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa and Barbara Banda of Zambia to clinch the Women’s CAF Player award. Chiamaka Nnadozie received the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year accolade, and Nigeria claimed the National Team of the Year for women.

The awards night celebrated various winners, including Al Ahly for Club of the Year (men), Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa for Club of the Year (women), and Morocco’s Fatma Tagnaout, of AS FAR, earning Women’s Interclub Player of the Year. Percy Tau from South Africa and Al Ahly secured the Interclub Player of the Year (men) honor.

Senegal’s Lamine Camara secures the Men’s Young Player award, while Nesryne El Chad claims the Women’s Young Player accolade. The Atlas Lions of Morocco earn the Men’s National Team of the Year, with Yassine Bounou named Men’s Best Goalkeeper. Wahid Regragui is honored as Men’s Coach of the Year, and South Africa’s Desiree Ellis receives the Women’s Coach award. The prestigious Goal of the Year is awarded to Mahmoud Kharaba of Al Ahly.

Victor Osimhen stands as the lone Super Eagles representative in the Men’s Best 11, while Michelle Alozie, Osinachi Ohale, and Asisat Oshoala secure spots in the Women’s Best 11.
