Manchester United has not entered discussions with Borussia Dortmund regarding a swap deal involving Donyell Malen and Jadon Sancho, according to sources.
Despite intermediaries offering the 24-year-old Malen to United for a potential Premier League move, there has been no response from the Red Devils.
Sancho’s interest in returning to Dortmund in the January transfer window has been known since late October, but sources downplay the likelihood of a swap deal with Malen. While Dortmund is eager to reunite with Sancho, his struggles at United, marked by a meager goal return and a fallout with manager Erik ten Hag, make a return to Dortmund the most realistic option.
However, United has shown little interest in involving Malen, and major January bids are deemed ‘highly unlikely’ pending the finalization of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment and the establishment of a new footballing department.
Despite interest from Arsenal, Liverpool, and Juventus, talks have not taken place, and a January move doesn’t seem to be a priority for any of the clubs. The decision on Sancho’s future ultimately rests with the player.
