Mikel Arteta Reveals Lessons Arsenal Must Learn After David Raya Errors

In the 49th minute, Raya was beaten to a corner by Elijah Adebayo, and shortly after, Ross Barkley’s shot slipped under his body, granting the home side the lead.

Despite this, Arteta, who received a booking for celebrating Declan Rice’s injury-time winner, emphasized the collective responsibility for defensive improvements.

Arteta stated, “We have to defend better as a team. There are certain things leading to the goals, and it’s not about blaming; we have never done it, and we’re not going to do it now. It’s about how the team reacts, and I love that response.”

“We don’t settle for a draw; we aim to win! The drive, energy, risk, and emotion we bring to the pitch are palpable,” continued Arteta.

“While we may be disappointed with some conceded goals today, it’s part of the game. It’s about how we react, and the team’s response was great.”

Raya, stepping in for Aaron Ramsdale in Arsenal’s fifth Premier League game, has emerged as the club’s primary goalkeeper.

Arsenal has communicated their intention to activate the £27m purchase clause in Raya’s loan deal with Brentford, raising questions about Ramsdale’s long-term future.

Recent reports suggest that Arsenal is open to Ramsdale leaving in the summer. Despite being at the Emirates Stadium for just over two years, Ramsdale may still harbor ambitions of reclaiming his spot, especially considering Raya’s recent performance.
