Paolo Maldini Responds to Manchester United Sporting Director Links

Paolo Maldini, the legendary Italian defender, has expressed his openness to offers from “high-level clubs” as he contemplates a return to football.

While there are rumors linking him to a role at Manchester United in the potential sporting department under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority takeover, Maldini emphasized the limitations of alternatives to his former club, AC Milan.

Due to his strong attachment to Milan, he admitted that considering another Italian team would be challenging and would require a compelling project from a top-tier foreign club to sway him.

Maldini even hinted at the possibility of a stimulating option in Saudi Arabia.

Richard Arnold has stepped down from his position as chief executive at Old Trafford, leaving speculation about his successor under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new regime.

Among the favorites to take on the role is former Juventus and PSG official Jean-Claude Blanc.

Ratcliffe is anticipated to adopt a similar approach to Chelsea’s Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, assembling a team of directors and experienced officials to guide Manchester United’s future.

While Paul Mitchell is reportedly Ratcliffe’s preferred choice for sporting director, other candidates like Atalanta’s Lee Congerton and Crystal Palace’s Dougie Freedman are also under consideration.

The Red Devils are expected to intensify their search for a new director after Ratcliffe’s share purchase is finalized.
